AHTV: Astronaut Alan Shepard Oral History
Alan Shepard, the first American in space, and the fifth man to walk on the Moon, was interviewed for an oral history as part of NASA’s Johnson Space Center History Collection. Shepard was one of the Mercury Seven Astronauts – America’s first men in space. This interview was conducted in February of 1998; and Shepard died of leukemia in July of that year. He’s interviewed by Roy Neal – longtime NBC News reporter and correspondent who covered the American manned space program.
