Comeback Senators: A Rich History

Republican Dan Coats wouldn’t be the first former senator to attempt a comeback. But his likely campaign against Democratic Sen. Evan Bayh of Indiana would be unusual for the long period of time that has passed since Coats, now 66, retired from the Senate at the end of 1998.
