During the Revolutionary War era, a famed French
naturalist declared that the plants and wildlife found in
America were smaller and feebler than other species found
elsewhere in the world. The notion enraged Thomas
Jefferson, who spent almost ten years trying to find a
giant moose to debunk the Frenchman’s claim. The following
